Units Run Major Water Line Break At Van Duyn

2/5/23 at 00:54hrs Taunton while covering for Onondaga Hill as well as Fairmount fire due to installation banquets, was dispatched to a water problem at Van Duyn nursing on W Seneca Tpke. Staff reporting a burst water pipe on the 2nd floor of the building. Taunton Car 1 (Chief Phelan), Engine 4 (FF Houle) and Rescue 1 (FF Flynn) responded to the incident. Upon arrival crews encountered significant flooding on the 2nd floor due to a hot water pipe break and a second burst pipe occurred on the first floor vestibule as units arrived due to a broken sprinkler pipe. Taunton worked with maintenance to secure the water to the effected areas. Crews also remained on site for 2 and a half hours to assist with removing the water so that their staff could maintain care to the residents of the facility. Engine 6(Lt Martin) handled a motor vehicle accident during this time frame and maintained the coverage while units operated at the facility.
